True Friend Road to Bayou Sale and Back

These are pictures from a recent ride between New Iberia and Bayou Sale, Louisiana.
Being that this is a pictures only site, no explanations are included.
OK, maybe a few.

 Parks, La.
The Missouri Pacific RR hump (rip) in southeast New Iberia, La.
A very old rice mill in New Iberia.

The BNSF rails headed to New Orleans (125 miles away)
Coming from New Orleans.

I was standing on the old MP right of way.
I check on the Louisiana and Delta RR office at Baldwin. A train was being prepared.

Inspection and work, east  Baldwin just before the Charanton Canal Bridge.
HB's in Baldwin.

Bayou Sale Passing Track (not the bridge)
Now this is interesting. These are the rails to South Bend, but the Intracoastal Canal cut off South Bend, so they now only go to the carbon black mills at North Bend, right at the canal.
The South Bend branch meets the BNSF main line.
Yellow Bayou at Bayou Sale.
Our wonderful swamp evergreen, the Palmetto. The roots go to China so don't try stealing one.

Heading back west to the Bayou Sale US 90 overpass.

Looking back at the overpass from Alice C. Rd.
Looking west toward Franklin, La.
Franklin, La.

I met up with the Baldwin L&D headed to Patoutville.
The rails have slipped to the right because of the recent tilt of the Earth. Only the sides of the bridge keep them from falling into the waters of the Charanton Canal.
They were still working.
And Parks was still dark.
