Putman, Texas

To tell the truth, this is the way it happened.
I was doing some research and one of the sites had a bunch of old railroad ads.
One was this:

Then I found some site.  I'm sure if you Google, "Putman, Texas", you will find it, too.
Credit to the photographer is included.  He captured most of what there is to capture in Putman.
I captured the rest.

Then I rode out there and took these:

Probably the site of the depot where the healing waters tourist would step down off the passenger car and wonder about a much needed "truth in advertising" law.

I rode west on the tracks to Baird and took a much needed bath in  T&P Lake.

On to Clyde. That old hound ....
by JJ Cale
Clyde plays electric bass
Plays it with finesse and grace
Sit on the porch without no shoes
A-picking the bass and singing the blues
Misery loves company
And his old dog sings harmony
Tambourine tied to his tail
You can hear him moan, you can hear him wail
Jody May, she got a dollar
Down the road you can hear her holler
"Get up Clyde, we got something to do
That old dog can sing the blues"
He don't move, he don't flinch
Clyde, he don't move an inch
Just sit on the porch without no shoes
Picking his bass and singing the blues

Clyde depot area (a guess of course).

Then to Abilene
written by Bob Gibson, Lester Brown and John D. Loudermilk
Abilene, Abilene,
Prettiest town I've ever seen
Women there don't treat you mean
In Abilene, my Abilene.

I sit alone most every night
Watch those trains pull out of sight
Don't I wish they were carrying me
Back to Abilene, my Abilene.

Abilene, Abilene,
Prettiest town I've ever seen
Women there don't treat you mean
In Abilene, my Abilene.

Crowded city, ain't nothing free
Nothing in this old town for me
Wish to the Lord that I could be
In Abilene, sweet Abilene.

Abilene, Abilene,
Prettiest town I've ever seen
Women there don't treat you mean
In Abilene, my Abilene...

I quickly returned to the lake where I am now.
More later.
PS: This was dedicated to all the Putt Putt people out there.
No, not miniature golf.
