The Greatest Ride Report Ever No.4

Well, it's one for the money,
Two for the show,
Three to get ready,
Now go, cat, go.

But don't you step on my blue suede shoes.
You can do anything but lay off of my blue suede shoes.

Well, you can knock me down,
Step in my face,
Slander my name
All over the place.

Do anything that you want to do, but uh-uh,
Honey, lay off of my shoes
Don't you step on my blue suede shoes.
You can do anything but lay off of my blue suede shoes.

You can burn my house,
Steal my car,
Drink my liquor
From an old fruit jar.

Do anything that you want to do, but uh-uh,
Honey, lay off of my shoes
Don't you step on my blue suede shoes.
You can do anything but lay off of my blue suede shoes.
Yes!
Sometimes you have to draw the line.
And, I'm not talking about crayola lines like our you know who draws in the sand.
I'm talking about manly lines.

For instance, at about 11:AM, my dog, Tu' Tu' wanted to continue playing ball.
I stiffened my back and told her I needed to meet the noon train.
She protested and demanded that when I returned I'd continue where we left off.
I agreed and exited feeling comfortable in my manhood pretty much.
This ride report has been delayed for two hours.
 Payback's a ....
But don't step on my .....
I'm going to meet the train.

Now the postponed report.
I've barricaded the door, her yelping or not.

In a psycho-electric-tosteronic flush I ripped down the back roads to Lafayette.

The above picture, besides being weird, reminds me to
point the camera in the right direction.
By mistake, I took 20 selfies in the Lafayette Yard.
They were disturbing.
That Cherokee nose could use some straightening.

The above picture has not been doctored though the subject
probably needs to be.
Back to the report:
In an uncontrollable  slide I negotiated a left turn off Pinhok Rd. and wheelied
almost backwards until I remembered I was on  Cop Station Way.

Finding a dark, damp and innocuous  location in the parking lot,
"I set up".
That's code for, "I got off the bike".

The following will remind you of pictures you have seen somewhere.
I will guarantee that they are original and not reproductions
ripped from some well meaning, unsuspecting idiot
who only wanted to share a little of the enjoyment he was having..

The train was on time having left about 9:30.{ Bachman-Turner Overdrive}
Knowing that would give me time to get to the Lafayette Yard
for a finale shoot because if it is on time, then it will stay at the depot until scheduled to leave.
If late, it abridges its stay.

Bet you can't wait as that sequence is stirring.

Some pictures have been omitted due to space considerations.

When I went to where Cop Station Way and Pinhook Road meet, I was aghast.
Possibly "aghast" should be holstered for another day.
Let's use "surprised a little" in this instance.
There on the old Sewer Plant and Trappey Foods Spur, which I discovered a while back, was this boxcar.
SP&TFS is almost a branch.  Possibly putting a food processing business next to
a city's inadequate stinking sewer facility
was a mistake and  why Trappe is gone.
By the way Lafayette, in these days to have sewer stink hanging over the city is a real
turn off.  That pet store guy is about as prepared to govern as a community organizer.
The best thing I ever did was get out of that hell hole Little Houston.
Still, it's great for railroad watching if  you can blend in with the natives, which I do.
Is "natives" politically incorrect?
If so, please use it and pass it on. Nine out of ten do.

Had the boxcar had a flat?

I guess I better cool it. If they ever find out I'm Bob Acres they may come after me.
Below pictures taken at  the depot & the Jefferson Street underpass (1958)
No, these were taken yesterday. The underpass was built in 1958.
Don't quote me.

Lafayette is trying to improve its once flourishing  downtown.
Problem is that it is the location of the homeless shelter.
A man was sitting on the sidewalk messing with his toes when I went by.
It was Saturday noon, no one was down town so I guess it was OK.
Maybe he was counting or singing that old song. "One Two Buckle My ...".
Friday and Saturday night is a different story.
It is a Yuppie Noxious Wonderland.
If you want to find your lawyer, look there.
There have also been shootings reported.
Assume the last two sentences are joined.

At the Yard
Wait.
A dark and foreboding air has entered the room.
Get out of here with that ball,  Tu' Tu'..

Let me see if I can restart.

Here she came, the train, not the dog again.
I was excited yesterday ...  but not so  much today.
It is a "you'd have to be there thing".
The opportunity is there.
Just do it. {Nike Shoes).

The pole really detracts from what could be exciting.
I will alter my angle next time.

I'll discuss this later.
I did get excited when I saw this picture.
I'll bet the Tremonts never let their engines "go south" like  this
though they did let their engines go South.

"Train Passing Behind Tree ... Location Unknown, Date  Unknown"
This could be a real candidate for the Louisiana Digital Library.

This is the preceding picture to the one above.

This pictured is the preceding picture to the one above.

This is suitable for framing and I may. It is the post-removed version of a picture above .......

..... the one that was after this one.

This is the picture that was before that one.

OK, discussion time:
This poor engine is rusting and rotting.

What is that GE thing?

Real Quality.  I'll bet GE built them in their China plants.
GE's CEO,  Geoffrey Himel is Obama's man with the plan for creating jobs.
Highest corporate taxes in the world? I'd leave,  too.
Got to keep the natives happy.

Back to the ride report:

Another digital moment.

I forgot to mention the Love Bugs.
Possibly they are the source of the rust?

I  have become re inspired.
My Yard pictures are never good but I still include them.
I've never shied away from the Sadistic.

Though I can't understand em, people demand 'em. {Jim Carrol}.
"I got a sister, name is Cleo, she's a Leo"
I love that line and  the following one, had to include it.
I found this while looking for a copy of  "My Sisters"
No live recordings could be found.
Caution: "this" may be disturbing to some.

East 902 Switch
You hear this on your radio, radio. {Joe Jackson}
"I'm the Man".

Just added:

The BR from another perspective.
You'll have to use your faraway eyes. {Rolling Stones}

Remains of the SP in Lafayette.

The L&D Segment.
This time in New Iberia!!!

Honest, there are no repeats above. I couldn't choose which ones were better.
I guess if I was able  this would really have been a great ride report.
Let me close this one out with some attempt at symmetry.
Just remember, as demonstrated above,
"You can do anything that you want to do and  never let them step on your blue suede shoes".
